About Marta
Science, curiosity and a deeply personal belief in change
I’m Marta Encheva-Malinova, PhD, a hypnotherapist and Rapid Transformational Therapy® (RTT®) practitioner.
My academic background is in the natural sciences, while my professional experience over nearly fifteen years spans scientific research, analysis and health economics.
This scientific and professional background has shaped the way I approach hypnotherapy – with curiosity, attention to evidence and a deep interest in how the mind works.
I have always been fascinated by how our experiences, perceptions, beliefs and learned responses can influence the way we think, feel, choose and respond – and by what may become possible when something we have long experienced as fixed begins to change.
I believe in the power of the mind
I believe our thoughts matter.
We cannot control everything that happens in life, but we can influence how we move through it – through what we focus on, the beliefs we carry and the meaning we give to our experiences.
Our thoughts can influence our expectations, our choices and our resilience, as well as what we continue to believe is possible for ourselves.
When we have a sense of purpose, meaning and direction, I believe we can carry and overcome far more than we ever imagined.
Looking at what truly matters to people
At the heart of this work is a question that has always mattered to me:
What does an outcome actually mean for the person experiencing it?
Clinical outcomes matter. Survival matters. But so does how a person feels and functions, what they are able to do and how they experience their everyday life.
My work in this field has also included leading population-level EQ-5D research in Bulgaria through international collaboration.
And it has reinforced something I believe deeply:
A person can never be reduced to a diagnosis, a symptom or a single outcome.
What matters is how we experience our lives – how we feel, what we believe about ourselves, what we are able to do, the choices we make and the life we are able to create.
When it became personal
My belief in the power of the mind is not only professional or theoretical.
The difficult path to conceiving and carrying my second child changed the way I understand this idea.
After several medical procedures to address a physical complication following the birth of my first child, I eventually became pregnant naturally.
The pregnancy that followed was marked by prolonged uncertainty, distressing prognoses and periods in hospital. At several points, I was told things no expectant mother wants to hear – often without a clear explanation of what exactly was happening or any certainty about how the pregnancy would unfold.
There was a great deal I could not control.
But I gradually realised there was something I could still choose:
what I focused on.
I followed the medical care and recommendations I was given, while consciously choosing not to allow every frightening possibility, statistic or prediction to become the only story in my mind.
For months, I held on to one image:
my baby, healthy and safe in my arms.
Eventually, after an exceptionally difficult journey, I gave birth to a healthy, full-term baby.
That experience strengthened my belief that even when we cannot choose everything that happens to us, we can choose how we move through it and what we continue to believe – and sometimes that is what helps us keep moving forward, even in uncertainty.
During those months, I also became acutely aware of how little support there can be for the emotional side of prolonged uncertainty – particularly for women moving from one appointment to the next and trying to hold on to hope while carrying words and predictions they are afraid may come true.
When my own journey was over, I knew I wanted to find a way to support other women through theirs.
That desire became an important part of the path that eventually led me to hypnotherapy and RTT®.
Where science and personal experience meet
Science has taught me to value evidence, ask questions and remain curious about what we still cannot fully explain.
It can help us understand patterns, risks and probabilities – but probabilities cannot always tell us exactly how one individual story will unfold.
Together, these two perspectives shape the way I work – with openness, attentiveness and respect for each person’s individual experience.
That is why I believe the work should be personal and individual rather than formulaic
– focused not only on what you would like to change, but also on understanding what may be keeping a pattern in place and what you would like to become possible instead.
A particular focus in my work with women
Supporting women through conception, pregnancy, birth preparation and motherhood is an important focus in my practice and has deep personal significance for me.
From my own experience, I know how important the emotional side can be alongside everything that is happening physically.
I want this part of my practice to offer women a space to reconnect with calm, confidence, trust and their own inner strength as they move through these deeply personal stages of life.
